Before founding twp Berlin, Michael was a partner at Berlin Global Advisors, working with clients from the financial services industry. Michael previously led Moody’s government and public affairs engagement in Germany as Senior Vice President and Head of the Representative Office in Berlin, also supporting Moody’s wider engagement across the EU. Prior to that, he served as Chief Economist at two major financial sector trade associations: the trade association of German insurers (GDV) and later the German Savings Banks Association (DSGV). Michael has also worked on banking and financial markets policy issues at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt am Main and for the German Federal Government in Bonn. He holds a master’s degree in Economics from both Paris-Dauphine and the London School of Economics, as well as a doctorate in Economics from Kiel University.
